Construction Heavy Civil & Utility – Building Science – Estimator

Essential Job Functions:

·         Obtain and download plans, specifications, and other required information and ensure that this information is organized and updated as addenda are issued

·         Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits to fully understand the scope of work for the project

·         Distribute plans and specifications to suppliers and subcontractors

·         Work with suppliers and subcontractors to define scopes of work to ensure they provide correct and accurate pricing

·         Review, level and accurately compare supplier and subcontractor pricing, which shall be included within estimates

·         Perform erosion control, site demolition, earthwork, drainage, utility, curbing, concrete, and asphalt pavement take-offs from plans

·         Prepare written estimates based upon supplier and subcontractor pricing and take-offs

·         Follow up on estimates and obtain bid results

·         Effectively communicate with clients on behalf of the company

·         Work on multiple projects simultaneously if required

·         Work hand in hand with project managers to provide support for projects

·         Utilize CAD and office software to produce and compile take-offs, reports, and supporting documents

·         Track and compile change orders

·         Develop and prepare workflow schedules for projects

·         Maintain a high level of quality work at all times

·         Maintain good relationships with Technicians, Foreman, Superintendents, Inspectors, Developers, and other co-workers at all times

·         Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work tasks

·         Perform other duties as assigned

·         Represent and promote Grayson Carter and Son in a professional and honest manner

 

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

·         Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Construction Management, or related field

·         Construction field experience preferred

·         Proficient in Microsoft office software

·         HeavyBid, CAD, Topcon Magnet Construction, Civil 3D, Carlson, AGTEK experience a plus

·         Meticulous attention to detail

·         Strong time management and organizational skills

·         Valid Driver’s License

·         Ability to communicate and convey information effectively

·         Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 75 pounds

·         Knowledge of OSHA Standards

·         Ability to obtain Arsenal Badge preferred, but not required

·         Ability to obtain FBI Badge preferred, but not required

·         Dependable transportation

·         Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all job sites as required

·         Work weekends and overtime as needed

·         Committed to attending work each day

·         Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
