Position Title: Lowboy Superintendent

Department: Management

Location: Athens, AL

Essential Job Functions:

  • Daily supervision and management of semi drivers
  • Prepare schedules, track attendance, manage/approve/deny PTO, and verify time card accuracy 
  • Supervise workloads, schedule, tasks, and other related functions
  • Ensure compliance with DOT requirements, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, statutes, and ordinances
  • Ensure drivers maintain maintenance records, annual inspections, pre-trip inspections
  • Ensure oversize signs and flags are being properly used
  • Ensure drivers have appropriate safety equipment in trucks that is required
  • Ensure all new drivers receive the appropriate training and monitor their progress.
  • Follow new drivers to ensure they are compliant with all regulations, ride along if necessary, and make clear the necessary signage, safety equipment, and expectations
  • Ensure deliveries are made safe, efficient, and permit requirements are followed
  • Load Height – measure equipment as necessary and be aware of load heights at all times. Avoid and recognize bridge heights and re-route if necessary
  • Track equipment usage to maintain proper utilization and timely repairs and monitor vehicle safety
  • Schedule, manage, and coordinate any necessary repairs and preventative maintenance needed with the service department
  • Ensure all drivers have and wear the appropriate Hi-Viz apparel and other personal protective equipment and it is maintained in a serviceable condition
  • Manage driver’s performance and provide feedback to drivers on how to improve performance
  • Address driver concerns as they arise and report issues to management and HR as needed
  • Ensure sub-contractor are following DOT compliance
  • Work with other departments to meet companywide initiatives
  • Ensures that all Company policy requirements and guidelines are communicated and adhered to by all drivers
  • Perform Annual Review of Driving Record
  • Manage all relevant information on drivers, such as license status, health card status, maintain driver files and correlating documentation
  • Maintain DOT compliance and filings

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate and convey information effectively
  • Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards
  • Ability to obtain Arsenal and FBI Badge
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all job sites as required
  • Work weekends and overtime as needed
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen
